Making a folding Hentenna - part1

I made an antenna of 2 meter for mountainous activities. The antenna is a Hentenna.

The Antenna Handbook published by CQ Publishing describes that a Hentenna is equivalent to four-element yagi in terms of performance. It sounds excellent. So, I decided to make a Hentenna as a size of knapsack.

The following picture is the Hentenna I made on a tripod.

This antenna can be folded as the following picture. All parts are less than 40cm, so it can be in my knapsack.

Let me go back to the starting point. The element parts are in the following. I bought 995mm length aluminum bar, from which I cut elements parts as the right size of the drawing.

Making holes at both ends of the element.

An alumite is an isulator. So, it should be removed especially around holes.

All parts are assembled as the following.

Parts are connected with butterfly screws to make connection easy even on a mountain.

The feeding point is the following. As an experiment, no balun is used.

The Hentenna is set up on the tripod, where the feeding point is 25cm from the edge.

My antenna analyzer AA-1500 Zoom shows the following SWR.

It still needs tuning but it looks good as a first setup.

Finally, the Hentenna is folded as the following and waits for further tuning :-)
